Welcome to Tracey and Simons website Prefix okennedys ragdolls GCCF breeder scheme number 216 I am a breeder member of the progressive ragdoll breed club, and I am a member of the GCCF breeder scheme We have been breeding ragdolls since 2014 coming up 10 year now I got my first ragdoll in 2013 and prior to that growing up I always had cats. unfortunately I’m allergic to dogs so I could not have dogs. I love cats they are my world and I have to say you get the best of both worlds with a ragdoll! You get the beauty and mystery and agility of a stunning cat and you get the companionship, love and cuddles of a dog with this breed. they are truly amazing! Because they are so loving and affectionate you must bare in mind that they are not to go outdoors as they are unable to mix with a wilder breed of cat because of their laid back loving attitude and they have a massive lack of awareness of danger which would make them very vulnerable. If you did want to take them outdoors this must be done on a lead or in a safe run in the garden. They are a breed that long for your love and attention, if I pop out they wait by the window or door for my return. Another advantage of the ragdoll if you are dog person but you can’t find the time to do the dog walks and feel tied, the ragdoll is again perfect because they are more independent than a dog and they are quite happy to sleep during the time you are out as long as they have food water, a cat tree and litter, you won’t need to rush home to walk them but at the same time they enjoy your return so if u are going to be out 8 hours or more a day it’s a good idea to get 2 and it’s perfectly safe to do this so they are appropriate for current busy lifestyles. Over the years I have strived to be the best I can for the cats I obviously vaccinate all my cats annually, I do 6 month vet checks and I advocate once every 3 month and milbamex once every 2 month around it ,this gives them all the protection they need from any fleas, parasites both internal or external, worms and ticks. I vaccinate my adults against leukaemia but I don’t vaccinate the kittens with leukaemia as there is evidence of this raising their temperature and causing seizures at a young age (I have had a few requested and no side effects have occurred but I don’t like taking the risk regularly unless required ie if there are other felines in the household they are going to) All are fully vaccinated against everything else. Im a small hobby breeder , I have 3 active females and 1 closed stud and I have 1 neuter aduld that will stay with us always and that’s how I like to keep things I have 3 litters per year one litter from each queen per calendar year, this way my active girls get a good rest and good size and I enjoy every kitten rather than being rushed around with too many, also keeping numbers down prevents the likes of feline viruses. I do annual blood checks to test for the various functioning to ensure my cats are healthy and I of course do the genetic DNA testing of all my cats to ensure there is no hcm in any lines, all this paperwork can be seen and the tests are always done by a vet as are the microchips. I let all my girls roam free around the home , I have to for obvious reasons keep my stud separate so teddy is in the cat room in a large heated run (air conditioned in summer months)he has the tv in there and it’s also a utility room and playroom so he is never left alone for long periods of time but he can only mate on the appropriate time for the females. In our home we have a 14 year old boy and he adores the rag dolls, the kittens are always well socialised and fit into a family life with ease as they are used to human affection constantly from myself, Simon and Kieran and the kittens play with the other adult cats . They are used to the usual household noise of tv, washer, dryer, dishwasher etc From us you are sure to get a confident, healthy, happy kitten/cat. We prefer our kittens to go to families or individuals with the time to devote to them as they are such a sociable breed & adore human company. If work commitments restrict this then 2 kittens would be advised.
